The surviving victim is grandmother Yang Geum-deok, who strongly rejected the government's 'third-party compensation plan.' Grandmother Yang Geum-deok claimed 260 million won, and six bereaved families of other victims who have already passed away jointly claimed 77 million won. The target of the claim is MH Power Systems Korea, a Korean subsidiary of Mitsubishi Heavy Industries.
The legal representatives for the confirmed forced labor rulings explained, "Since this lawsuit concerns monetary claims against a domestic corporation owned by Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, unlike stocks or patent rights which previously required liquidation procedures, it is expected that once the first trial ruling favors the plaintiffs and a provisional execution order is issued, the claims can be immediately collected without procedures such as auction."

They added, "The legal team will strive to promptly liquidate the domestic assets of the Japanese company according to the wishes of the victims who reject the third-party compensation plan funded by Korean companies, so that the victims can receive compensation in the manner they desire."
