Doctor Prescribing Propofol to Yoo Ah-in Arrested in the Act of 'Self-Medication'
A doctor who prescribed propofol to actor Yoo Ah-in (real name Eom Hong-sik), who is accused of drug use, was reportedly arrested by the police as a suspect after administering propofol to himself.
The Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency's Narcotics Crime Investigation Unit announced on the 16th that on the 13th, during the execution of a search warrant at a clinic in Gangnam-gu, Seoul, they confirmed that Doctor A was administering propofol to himself and arrested him on the spot. The police applied for an arrest warrant for Doctor A on the following day, the 14th, and the Seoul Central District Court will conduct a warrant hearing for Doctor A on the 16th at 3 p.m. on charges of violating the Narcotics Control Act.

The National Forensic Service recently informed the police of detailed test results showing positive reactions for four types of narcotics?marijuana, propofol, cocaine, and ketamine?from Yoo’s hair and other samples. Earlier, on the 5th of last month, the police executed a body search warrant on Yoo Ah-in at Incheon International Airport. At that time, a preliminary urine test showed a positive reaction for marijuana, and a detailed analysis was requested from the National Forensic Service. Hair analysis can confirm drug use for up to one year depending on the length of the hair.

Searches were also conducted at Yoo’s residence and related hospitals. The police are currently analyzing the seized materials. Once the analysis is complete, Yoo will be summoned for investigation regarding the drug purchase routes and usage details.
