Expo Organizing Committee Invites Travel Association to Pre-Open

Tourism Expected to Bloom with Garden Expo

The Suncheon Bay International Garden Expo Foundation (Chairman Noh Kwan-gyu, Mayor of Suncheon) announced that, 17 days ahead of the opening of the 2023 Suncheon Bay International Garden Expo, it held a pre-opening event on the 15th by inviting the Korea Association of Travel Agents.

On this day, the event proceeded with the Korea Association of Travel Agents (President Oh Chang-hee), which signed a business agreement with the organizing committee last year, purchasing and delivering 30,000 admission tickets in advance to support the success of the expo, followed by an on-site tour of the expo venue for travel agencies affiliated with the association to develop travel products.

Oh Chang-hee, President of the Korea Association of Travel Agents, said, “The interest of domestic and international travel agencies in this garden expo, held anew after 10 years since 2013, is very high. The Korea Association of Travel Agents will continue to support the success of the expo until the end.” He praised, “Domestic tourism, which has been stagnant due to COVID-19, will revive through the garden expo, and the unique content that has never been experienced domestically is sufficient to captivate the hearts of people worldwide, leading to great success.”

In particular, the unique contents that can only be seen at the 2023 Garden Expo, such as ▲ Ocheon Green Plaza and Green Island, which will be used as the opening ceremony space ▲ Garden Stay, a one-night stay in the garden that started reservations on March 10 ▲ wellness experiences for health care, and the Earthing Trail, attracted great interest from the attending travel agencies.

Cheon Je-young, Secretary General of the organizing committee, said, “It is a great strength that the Korea Association of Travel Agents, leading the Korean travel industry, is taking the lead in cheering us on,” adding, “The 2023 Garden Expo will be a major project in urban planning that sets a milestone as the standard for future cities, not only for healing and tourism but also as an opportunity to drive Suncheon’s sustainable growth engine.”

Meanwhile, the 2023 Suncheon Bay International Garden Expo will be held for seven months from April 1 to October 31 under the theme “Living in the Garden,” taking place not only at Suncheon Bay National Garden but also throughout various parts of the city, and is expected to become a travel destination offering healing and wellness experiences for many domestic and international travelers.
