Shinsegae Department Store has established a labor union for the first time in over 60 years since its founding.
The Shinsegae Department Store labor union held a press conference in front of the National Assembly at 2 p.m. on the 15th to officially announce its launch. The union is affiliated with the Korean Confederation of Trade Unions' National Federation of Textile and Distribution Workers' Unions.
Union Chairman Kim Young-hoon called for ▲an end to one-sided wage negotiations ▲improvements in the opaque performance bonus system ▲restructuring of a fair and transparent personnel system ▲wage increases in line with inflation ▲staff augmentation and provision of work phones.
Chairman Kim, at the partner level, led the establishment of the union. The partner level generally refers to deputy manager and manager positions with less than 12 years of service.
