Seoul City Strengthens Safety and Quarantine Measures at Large Event Venues
Focused Safety Management at Large-Scale MICE Event Venues
The Seoul Metropolitan Government and the Seoul Tourism Foundation announced on the 15th that, as MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conventions, and Exhibitions) events are expected to recover to pre-COVID-19 levels this year, they will focus on safety and quarantine management for large-scale MICE events. MICE events refer to a high value-added service industry including corporate meetings, incentive tours, conventions, and exhibitions.
First, the Seoul Metropolitan Government operates an online site for ‘MICE Event Safety·Quarantine’ that allows event organizers to self-inspect safety management using a checklist to ensure compliance with safety rules, and to self-check how well they adhere to government safety, infectious disease, and hygiene guidelines.
Additionally, for large-scale events, the Seoul Metropolitan Government and the Seoul Tourism Foundation will jointly conduct on-site inspections. The targets include five events expected to gather more than 2,000 participants this year, such as the International Conference on Coronary Interventions, and six large exhibitions including the Seoul Cafe Show, which simultaneously uses three or more halls at COEX.
The Seoul Metropolitan Government plans to continue supporting safe MICE event hosting by providing professional sterilization and quarantine services inside and outside venues, as well as offering quarantine gate rental services.
