Shilla免 to Showcase K-Metaverse at Asia's Top 3 Hub Airport Duty-Free Stores
Shilla Duty Free will proactively introduce K-Metaverse technology at duty-free shops in Asia's three major hub airports.
Shilla Duty Free announced on the 13th that, based on the metaverse know-how accumulated at domestic duty-free shops, it plans to introduce metaverse services at duty-free shops in Singapore Changi Airport and Hong Kong Chek Lap Kok Airport. In the future, it also plans to utilize the metaverse at the online duty-free shop of Incheon Airport.
Shilla Duty Free has experience successfully operating online duty-free shops at global airports. Since 2014, it has participated in the launch and ongoing operation of 'iShopChangi' at Singapore Changi Airport and, since 2017, 'Hong Kong Airport Shop' at Hong Kong Chek Lap Kok Airport.
This smart duty-free shop operation experience of Shilla Duty Free is expected to be a core capability for the smooth implementation of smart duty-free services and the Incheon Airport metaverse, which are key initiatives promoted by Incheon International Airport Corporation.
In December last year, Shilla Duty Free held the industry's first metaverse beauty class. Collaborating with the metaverse platform 'ZEP', the metaverse beauty class attracted 3.5 times the target number of participants, resulting in about an 80% increase in purchasing customers on the day of the event and a 1.6-fold increase in sales, marking a success.
Additionally, to build a metaverse studio, Shilla Duty Free signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the metaverse content art-tech company 'VIVE Studios', leading digital service innovation through metaverse technology. Shilla Duty Free plans to provide customers with new experiences through content utilizing advanced technology.

Accordingly, Shilla Duty Free plans to integrate a higher level of 'K-Metaverse technology' by applying augmented reality (AR), virtual reality (VR) technologies, and the recently spotlighted artificial intelligence (AI) GPT language model technology together with tenant brands, based on the metaverse-related know-how introduced at the existing iShopChangi and Hong Kong Airport Shop.
