Democratic Party: "Is the Yoon Government's Labor Reform Trying to Create a Society of Death from Overwork?"
"Can't even use paid leave, but saving vacation days to live in Jeju for a month"
The Democratic Party criticized the working hours reform plan promoted by the Yoon Suk-yeol administration, asking, "Are you trying to turn South Korea into a society of death by overwork?"
On the 12th, Oh Young-hwan, the Democratic Party's floor spokesperson, pointed out, "South Korea is deteriorating due to the Yoon Suk-yeol administration's policies that completely ignore the realities of the labor field."
Spokesperson Oh said, "The government tells people to save up their vacation and go live in Jeju for a month, but to take a month off, you have to work 12 hours a day for 30 days," adding, "The reality in South Korea is that 30% of office workers cannot even properly use their legally mandated paid leave. Does the Yoon Suk-yeol administration even know this reality?"
He added, "The 69-hour work schedule shows the future of South Korean workers facing a society of overwork," and criticized, "Yet the government insists on pushing forward unilateral policies without communication."
The 69-hour work schedule, based on the government's revised working hours plan, became a hot topic online as a daily schedule for office workers.
Regarding this, Spokesperson Oh said, "Among advanced labor countries, where is there a country that demands over 60 hours of work in a single week?" and criticized, "The Yoon Suk-yeol administration has emphasized that it is for the youth. After using the youth for political gain, it shamelessly pushes policies opposed by young people."
