Fire Near Unamsan Mountain in Residential Area of Gwangju... 90% Containment Achieved
The large flames that broke out on Unamsan, a mountain area densely populated with apartment complexes in Buk-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City, were extinguished after nighttime firefighting efforts.
A fire broke out on the afternoon of the 11th at Unamsan near the apartment complex in Unam-dong, Buk-gu, Gwangju. Fire authorities are deploying helicopters and personnel to extinguish the fire.

According to the forestry and fire authorities on the 11th, the fire started on Unamsan around 3:50 PM that day.
As of 9:30 PM, about 90% of the fire has been extinguished, and currently the remaining embers are being cleaned up.
However, since sparks repeatedly reignite at the points where the fire was extinguished, it is expected to take more time to completely put out the fire.
No casualties occurred due to this fire, but nearby residents had to endure great anxiety.

The fire department estimates that the initial ignition started in a nearby field and plans to investigate the exact cause of the fire in the future.
