"Stop Wildfires" Jeonnam Volunteer Fire Brigade Conducts 18-Day Prevention Campaign
Amid growing public concern over wildfires occurring across the country recently, volunteer firefighters in Jeonnam Province have launched wildfire prevention activities.
According to the Jeonnam Fire Headquarters on the 9th, about 10,000 volunteer firefighters in the province have started a campaign to prevent wildfire accidents in forest-adjacent areas, including 243 major hiking trails.
The campaign will run for 18 days until the 26th. This campaign was initiated to raise public awareness and foster a fire prevention atmosphere due to the increased risk of wildfires caused by the ongoing dry weather.
The campaign focuses on promoting the prohibition of burning rice paddies and fields near forests and agricultural waste, banning the carrying of flammable materials when entering the mountains, and thorough management of surrounding embers.
Hong Young-geun, head of the Jeonnam Fire Headquarters, said, “With the wildfire risk continuing due to recent weather conditions, even minor carelessness can lead to a large wildfire. Special caution is needed to prevent small sparks caused by carelessness from turning into fires.”
