Art Meets Science and Causes a Stir?… Ulsan Museum of Art Collaboration Exhibition 'Twisted Data'
Media Art Exhibition by Three Artist Teams Until August 13
An unusual collaborative exhibition that delivers unimaginable results by combining art and science has opened in Ulsan.
The Ulsan Museum of Art (Director Seo Jin-seok) is hosting "Twisted Data" at the XR Lab, a media art exclusive hall at the Ulsan Museum of Art, from the 9th until August 15.
"Twisted Data" embodies the engineering potential of "Digital Silence," which suggests that omissions, mutations, and errors occurring during data input can paradoxically lead to more optimized and unexpected results.
"Digital Silence" is an art and science collaboration project composed of new media artists, engineers from Yonsei University, and art theorists, which has been conducted through seminars and forums since 2020.
The Ulsan Museum of Art prepared a fusion exhibition of art and science with the Digital Silence collaboration team, and the first exhibited work is "From the Machine" by the artist group Team Void and engineer Lee Seung-ah.
Team Void is a young media artist group consisting of Song Jun-bong and Bae Jae-hyuk, pursuing work from a systemic perspective with the theme of the fusion of technology and art.
"From the Machine" will be exhibited from the 9th to April 30 and reveals the extended interpretative process of machines by using noise, which the system had previously reduced, through a murenz camera.
The second work, "Plastic Landscape ? The World Behind," will be exhibited from May to June. It is a microplastic landscape created through a reverse algorithm collaboration between artist Han Yoon-jung and engineer Kim Seong-ryun, raising awareness of the climate environment.
