The Social Entrepreneur Development Project, hosted by the Ministry of Employment and Labor and the Korea Social Enterprise Promotion Agency, is a program that discovers individuals with the qualities and passion for entrepreneurship as social entrepreneurs and supports the entire process of social enterprise startup, from realizing social public interest goals to commercialization.
This project aims to ▲solve social problems with innovative business ideas ▲discover and support startup activities of prospective social entrepreneurs ▲support startups aiming to enter (prospective) social enterprises. This year, 640 teams nationwide and 32 teams in Jeollabuk-do were selected.
The cooperative Vinirounaejeombbang, selected for this development project, operates a "zero-waste store" that sells NO-plastic and resource-circulation alternative products to address climate crisis environmental issues, and conducts carbon-neutral practice campaigns and educational projects.
Rodem Job Center is a startup team that builds and operates a job platform and trains specialized cleaning personnel for people with disabilities and foreign workers to resolve the recruitment difficulties of local companies and create quality jobs.
Selected startup teams for the development project will be provided with educational programs to help understand social economy and business models, 1:1 mentoring for entry into social enterprises, growth support and resource linkage, and up to 50 million KRW in commercialization funds.
Mayor Choi Kyungsik said, “We will provide continuous monitoring and active support services so that Namwon startup teams can solve local problems through innovative ideas and grow into social enterprises.”
