Gwangju Nam-gu to Provide Educational Benefits via Vouchers Following Ministry of Education Restructuring Plan
Nam-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City will provide education benefits in the form of 'vouchers' instead of cash, and will differentially provide education activity support funds to students receiving education benefits within the district according to the elementary, middle, and high school systems.
Nam-gu announced on the 8th that it will operate a concentrated application period for education benefits until the 17th, as the payment method for education benefits changes from cash to vouchers.
Following the Ministry of Education's reform plan to provide vouchers instead of cash to prevent problems that occurred when education benefits were paid in cash, Nam-gu plans to differentially provide education activity support funds per student according to the school system to students receiving education benefits within the district from households with an income recognition amount below 50% of the median income.
Elementary school students will receive vouchers worth 415,000 KRW annually, while middle and high school students will receive vouchers worth 589,000 KRW and 654,000 KRW respectively.
Existing recipients of education benefits can submit an application after completing identity verification on the education benefits voucher website.
Additionally, those who wish to receive the service for the first time this year, such as elementary school entrants, can apply by visiting the administrative welfare center in their residential neighborhood or through the online websites 'Bokjiro' or 'One-Click Education Expenses.'
