[Asia Economy Reporter Jang Sehee] A man who caused a traffic accident was found to be a wanted drug offender and was urgently arrested by the police at the scene.
According to a compilation of reports from Asia Economy on the 7th, the Gangnam Police Station in Seoul arrested a man in his 30s, identified as A, who was wanted on charges of violating the Narcotics Control Act, on the 1st and handed him over to the Incheon Police Agency, which has jurisdiction.
A caused a rear-end collision around 4 p.m. on the 1st near Sinsa-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul.
When the police arrived at the scene and checked the driver's identity, it was confirmed that A was a wanted drug offender.
According to the Incheon Police Agency, A is suspected of using drugs in 2021. An official from the Incheon Police Agency stated, "We have currently taken custody of him and are conducting an investigation."
The victim reported to the police that A was rambling and seemed to be intoxicated by something, but the breathalyzer test confirmed that he was not under the influence of alcohol. A rapid drug test also came back negative. At the time, A was reported to be staggering and speaking unclearly.
Meanwhile, the Gangnam Police Station has booked A on charges of violating the Special Act on Traffic Accident Handling and plans to continue the investigation into the traffic accident.
