34.72% Voter Turnout on First Day of People Power Party Convention, Highest Ever Recorded

Results Announced 8 Days After ARS Voting
The mobile voting turnout on the first day of the March 8 party convention delegate election to select the next leadership of the People Power Party was recorded at an all-time high of 34.72%.
The Central Party Election Commission announced that as of 5 p.m. on the 4th, when the first day of mobile voting closed, 297,100 out of 837,236 party delegate voters participated, resulting in this turnout rate.
The People Power Party explained that compared to previous party leader election conventions, the turnout on the first day of this convention is the highest ever. The turnout on the first day of the 2021 convention that elected former leader Lee Jun-seok was 25.83%.
Delegates with voting rights can participate in mobile voting for two days starting from this day. On the 6th and 7th, voting must be done via ARS. Voting is allowed only once, either through mobile or ARS.

View original imageFor mobile voting, delegates can participate using their registered mobile phones from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on the 4th and 5th. The People Power Party guided on its website that upon receiving the voting text message, voters enter a security code and personal authentication number (the first digits of their resident registration number), then select their candidates to cast their vote.
Delegates can vote for one candidate for party leader, two candidates for supreme council member, and one candidate for youth supreme council member. Once all voting procedures are completed, the election results will be announced at the party convention on the 8th.

If no party leadership candidate receives a majority of votes, a runoff vote will be held between the top two candidates. In this case, a one-on-one debate will take place on the 9th, followed by mobile voting on the 10th and ARS voting on the 11th, with the party leader finalized on the 12th.
