Ministry of the Interior and Safety Announces 2022 Resident Registration Fact-Finding Survey Results
Focused Investigation on Vulnerable Welfare Groups Underway
The Ministry of the Interior and Safety announced on the 5th the results of the 2022 Resident Registration Fact-Finding Survey, which was conducted nationwide targeting approximately 24 million households from October 6 to December 30 last year.
During the fact-finding survey period, a total of 1,290,792 resident registration details were organized through residents' move-in reports and administrative agencies' ex officio registration of unknown residence. In particular, 76,972 cases were found where the registered address and actual residence did not match due to reasons such as late move-in reporting, and measures have been completed.
This survey focused on ▲households including welfare-vulnerable groups, ▲households including suspected deceased persons, ▲households including long-term absentees and school-age children not attending school, and the results are as follows.
First, among welfare crisis households identified through crisis information such as power and water outages, the Ministry of Health and Welfare requested an investigation of 17,429 resident registrations, and visits were made to confirm actual residence.
Next, through the investigation of households including suspected deceased persons, out of 389,158 suspected deceased persons, 385,912 (99.2%) were processed as deceased and removed from the registry.
Finally, among 1,583 long-term absentees and school-age children not attending school, 1,577 (99.6%) whose reasons such as overseas stay or homeschooling were confirmed, and 6 cases that could not be confirmed were reported to 112 and child protection agencies.
