Jungnang-gu Holds the 104th Anniversary 3.1 Movement Day Patriotism Commemoration Ceremony

View original imageOn March 1st at 11 a.m., a patriotic commemoration ceremony marking the 104th anniversary of the March 1st Movement was held at the Itaewon Cemetery's unmarked joint grave area (the joint grave of activist Yu Gwan-sun) in Mangwoo History and Culture Park, Jungnang-gu (Mayor Ryu Gyeong-gi).
Co-hosted by Jungnang-gu and the Jungnang Branch of the Liberation Association (Chairman Yoo Yeon-seung), the ceremony was attended by Mayor Ryu Gyeong-gi and about 50 residents. It was organized to reflect on the significance of the March 1st Movement and to honor the spirit and dedication of the patriots who devoted themselves to the country.
During the ceremony, Mayor Ryu, Chairman Yoo Yeon-seung, and a resident representative read the Declaration of Independence, followed by the singing of the March 1st Movement song and three cheers of "Manse" (long live).
Mayor Ryu Gyeong-gi of Jungnang-gu said, “Mangwoo History and Culture Park, where today’s ceremony was held, is a place where the spirit of the March 1st Movement lives on, as it is the burial site of activist Yu Gwan-sun and three of the 33 national representatives: Han Yong-un, Oh Se-chang, and Park Hee-do. It is especially meaningful to commemorate the 104th anniversary of March 1st here and honor the dedication and will of our ancestors.” He added, “We will strive to better maintain Mangwoo History and Culture Park, develop it into Korea’s premier history and culture park, and make Jungnang-gu a proud district where history lives.”

Gangbuk-gu (Mayor Lee Soon-hee) held a commemorative event titled ‘The Shout of That Day’ on March 1st at Bonghwanggak and the Uidong Meeting Square area to mark the 104th anniversary of the March 1st Independence Movement.
The event began at 10 a.m. at Bonghwanggak with the Cheongsu Bongjeon ritual, a ceremony offering pure and clean water, followed by the national salute, commemorative speeches, reading of the Declaration of Independence, a chorus performance of the March 1st Movement song, and three cheers of "Manse."

Starting at 11 a.m., at Uidong Meeting Square, reenactments of the independence movement titled One Shout, a choir performance by the Gapyeong County Boys and Girls Choir, a special performance by singer Moon Jin-oh, and a color concert by the musical hero team including actor Min Woo-hyuk were held.
