"Clean Gyeonggi Sea"... Province Partners with 11 Public Institutions for Environmental Cleanup

View original imageGyeonggi Province, together with five local governments near Gyeonggi Sea and 11 public institutions including Gyeonggi Housing and Urban Corporation (GH), will conduct year-round coastal environmental conservation activities at locations such as Ansan Tando Port and Gimpo Daemyeong Port.
On the 28th, Gyeonggi Province announced that five coastal local governments?Hwaseong, Ansan, Pyeongtaek, Siheung, and Gimpo?and 11 public institutions under Gyeonggi Province, including GH, signed the "Gyeonggi Sea Together (海) Promotion Business Agreement" at the Marina Clubhouse in Jeongok Port, Hwaseong City.
"Gyeonggi Sea Together (海)" is a project in which public institutions under Gyeonggi Province jointly engage in marine environmental conservation activities in response to the increasing social and environmental roles of public institutions. Participating public institutions voluntarily conduct cleaning activities targeting specific ports and coastal areas within the province.
According to the agreement, participating institutions share a commitment to solving marine litter problems in Gyeonggi Sea and will conduct coastal cleaning activities at least four times a year, involving a total of 680 participants centered on public institutions under the province.
Under the agreement, Gyeonggi Province will support overall operations including ▲policy establishment ▲evaluation of participating institutions ▲awards for outstanding participants ▲preparation of promotional measures. The five coastal cities?Hwaseong, Ansan, Pyeongtaek, Siheung, and Gimpo?will designate and manage activity sites and handle collected marine litter to support smooth activities by public institutions on site.
Eleven institutions including Gyeonggi Housing and Urban Corporation, Gyeonggi Pyeongtaek Port Corporation, Gyeonggi Credit Guarantee Foundation, and Gyeonggi Institute of Science and Technology Promotion will carry out voluntary coastal cleaning activities, promote their efforts, and report performance.
The activity sites for "Gyeonggi Sea Together (海)" include popular tourist destinations within the province such as Hwaseong Gungpyeong Pine Forest Beach, Ansan Tando Port, Pyeongtaek Gwongwan Port, Siheung Oido, and Gimpo Daemyeong Port.
Oh Byeong-kwon, the first deputy governor of Gyeonggi Province, said, "This is a first-of-its-kind project nationwide that supports marine environmental conservation and the social and environmental roles of public institutions simultaneously. We hope that active activities and promotion will raise awareness of the clean Gyeonggi Sea and encourage residents' interest and participation in marine environmental conservation."

Meanwhile, Governor Kim Dong-yeon of Gyeonggi Province showed deep interest in creating a clean Gyeonggi Sea by visiting the Gyeonggi Sea area around Jeongok Port in Hwaseong City last September, boarding the Gyeonggi Cheongjeongho vessel, and observing marine litter collection sites firsthand.
