GTX-B Line, KCC Construction Consortium Selected as Financial Section 4 Contractor
[Asia Economy Reporter Cha Wanyong] The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport announced on the 28th that the KCC Construction Consortium has been selected as the qualified bidder for the detailed design of Section 4 of the GTX-B line’s publicly funded segment (Yongsan-Sangbong).
The GTX-B line runs east-west across the Seoul metropolitan area, from Incheon Incheon National University Station to Maseok in Namyangju, Gyeonggi Province. Of the total 82.7 km route, the Sangbong?Maseok 62.8 km section is a private investment project, while the remaining Seoul Yongsan?Sangbong section is a publicly funded project. The total project cost is 6.4005 trillion KRW (private investment 3.8421 trillion KRW, public funding 2.5584 trillion KRW).
Among these, Section 4 involves constructing a 3.24 km Gyeongchun Line connection and a 3.19 km Jungang Line connection, with a project cost of 550.4 billion KRW.
Section 4 is the fastest progressing segment of the B line and was tendered last August using a design-build lump-sum contract method.

The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport designated the private investment segment negotiation candidate on the 13th of last month to begin construction of the GTX-B line in the first half of next year, and on the 16th of the same month, proceeded with the basic and detailed designs for Sections 1 to 3 of the publicly funded segment.
