View original imageHanwha Solutions has obtained eco-friendly certification for recycled raw material rPE (recycled polyethylene) and is set to actively expand its market. On the 28th, Hanwha Solutions announced that it received the Global Recycled Standard (GRS), an international recycling certification, from Control Union, a global certification body, for its rPE material made from recycled plastic waste.
Control Union's GRS is a strict certification system that requires meeting environmental and chemical standards such as a minimum of 20% recycled raw material content, as well as social criteria including labor rights. It is especially regarded as the most trusted certification among various eco-friendly certifications demanded by global consumer goods companies.
Hanwha Solutions obtained the 'GRS' certification collectively for the entire supply chain, including partner companies involved in the production, processing, and distribution stages of rPE raw materials. This follows the acquisition of the European Union standard sustainability certification 'ISCC plus' last year, marking consecutive achievements in gaining credible international eco-friendly certifications.
To actively respond to the recent trend of expanding eco-friendly products, Hanwha Solutions plans not only to increase the use of industrial recycled packaging bags based on rPE, which began production last year, but also to strengthen collaboration with domestic consumer goods companies. Starting with eco-friendly cosmetic packaging currently being commercialized in partnership with Kolmar Holdings and Yeonwoo, with whom a tripartite business agreement was signed last year, the company aims to diversify rPE-applied products and increase the annual supply of rPE to 10,000 tons by 2027.
