Korean Air Launches Eco-Friendly Upcycled Pouch Using In-Flight Life Jackets
Korean Air announced on the 27th that it will produce and sell eco-friendly upcycled cosmetic pouches made from old life jackets used on board and donate the proceeds to environmental organizations.
The newly launched product was created through a collaboration between Korean Air and the domestic eco-friendly beauty brand 107 (One O Seven). The pouch made from life jacket material contains a total of six skincare products from 107, including cleanser, mist, moisturizer, soap, shampoo, and mask pack, which are useful for travel.
The upcycled pouch was made eco-friendly not only in the selection of materials but also in the production process. All manufacturing processes were carried out in a factory powered 100% by solar energy. The washing of the discarded life jackets also used eco-friendly detergents to minimize environmental pollution that could occur during production.
The selling price of Korean Air’s newly launched upcycled pouch is 125,000 KRW, and it will be sold in a limited quantity of 4,000 sets through various channels such as Korean Air e-Skyshop, 107’s official online store, and Naver Smart Store. All proceeds, excluding some costs and fees involved in producing the upcycled product, will be donated to global environmental organizations and used for environmental protection.
Meanwhile, Korean Air is also leading environmental protection by practicing ESG management through various upcycling projects, such as producing rare name tags using retired aircraft fuselages and making water pouches (hot packs) from in-flight discarded blankets to help those in need.
