Taean Coast Guard Responding to a Ship Sinking After Pier Collision

At around 1:13 PM on the 26th, a 22-ton barge being towed collided with a breakwater near Sinjin Port in Geunheung-myeon, Taean-gun, Chungnam, and sank.
One crew member aboard the sunken barge was rescued from the tugboat, and there were no casualties.
Upon receiving the report, the Taean Coast Guard dispatched patrol vessels and rescue teams to the scene to prepare for marine pollution accidents and other emergencies.
The Taean Coast Guard installed position buoys for navigation safety to prevent secondary accidents involving vessels moving in the vicinity of the accident and also set up oil fences to prepare for any potential fuel leakage from the cargo.

A Taean Coast Guard official stated, "We are investigating the detailed circumstances of the accident," and added, "We ask vessels to carefully check the surrounding marine terrain and landmarks during navigation and operate safely."
