Park Myungha, President of Seoul Medical Association, Appointed as Chairman of KMA Emergency Committee...Mass Rally to Oppose Nursing Act on 26th
The Korean Medical Association announced on the 24th that Park Myung-ha, president of the Seoul Medical Association, was elected as the chairman of the Emergency Countermeasure Special Committee. Earlier, the KMA held an extraordinary general assembly and resolved to form the emergency committee in opposition to the enactment of the Nursing Act.
Along with the KMA, the Health and Welfare Medical Solidarity, consisting of 13 professional organizations, plans to hold the "Nursing Act and Medical License Act Forced Passage Condemnation Health and Welfare Medical Solidarity 4 Million General Rally" on the 26th at Yeouidaero in front of Yeouido Park, Seoul.
The rally will proceed with a head-shaving ceremony by representatives of the solidarity organizations, speeches on the struggle, solidarity speeches, and reading of a resolution. There will also be an open microphone session and a street march planned.

The KMA stated, "Despite the entire medical community repeatedly emphasizing the threats the Nursing Act poses to public health, the legislation was forcibly passed, ignoring our reasonable voices," and added, "At the general rally on the 26th, with the strong solidarity of the 4 million Health and Welfare Medical Solidarity members, we will fight with all our might to ensure a reasonable decision is made at the National Assembly plenary session."
