Gangwon-do Invests 154.1 Billion Won in Disaster Prevention This Year... 33.7% Increase Compared to Last Year
A Total of 212 Districts in 7 Areas Including Living Zone Improvement
[Asia Economy Reporter Ra Young-cheol] Gangwon Province will invest 154.1 billion KRW this year in seven disaster prevention project areas to prevent damage caused by natural disasters. This is an increase of 38.9 billion KRW (33.7%) from last year's 115.2 billion KRW.
According to the province on the 23rd, the highest number of projects is for steep slope collapse risk at 82 locations (50.6 billion KRW), followed by 33 disaster risk improvement districts (63.6 billion KRW), 6 flood and wind disaster living area maintenance sites (23.2 billion KRW), and 2 each for stormwater runoff reduction facilities and disaster risk reservoirs (10.6 billion KRW).
The province and city/counties formed an 'early promotion team' last month and plan to place more than 90% of early orders by the end of this month, completing major structural work before the rainy season.
To this end, the head of the Disaster Safety Office of the province, who leads the early promotion team, held a 'Disaster Prevention Project Promotion Strategy Meeting' on the 15th and urged 18 cities and counties to expedite project implementation through early ordering.
In addition, the province plans to make every effort to secure over 100 billion KRW in national funds as the importance of disaster prevention projects grows due to recent climate change.
