Seoul City Appoints Professor Won Yong-geol as President of University of Seoul
4-Year Term Starting March 1
[Asia Economy Reporter Kiho Sung] Seoul City announced on the 22nd that it will appoint Professor Won Yonggeol of the Department of Economics as the 10th President of the University of Seoul, effective next month on the 1st.
The term is four years. President Won graduated from Seoul National University with a degree in Economics and earned a master's degree in International Economics from the same university's graduate school. He received a Ph.D. in Economics from Indiana University in the United States. He has been with the University of Seoul since March 2002.

President Won has served as president of the Korean International Finance Association and vice president of the Korean International Trade Association. He is currently serving as vice president of the Korean International Economics Association, a private member of the International Development Cooperation Committee, and a private member of the Financial Hub Promotion Committee. In January of this year, he was selected as the top candidate in the University of Seoul's internal election.
