Yeongam-gun, Consecutive Highest Donations to Hometown Love Fund
Return Gifts Worth 1.5 Million Won Donated to the Local Community
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Seo Young-seo] Yeongam-gun, Jeollanam-do (Governor Woo Seung-hee) announced on the 22nd that Chairman Kim Seong-jin (Y-MART) and Chairman Kim Gyu-ryong (Yeongjin Construction) donated the highest annual donation amount of 5 million KRW.

Chairman Kim Seong-jin is an entrepreneur from Geumjeong-myeon who started from a small store and built a distribution company with about 100 franchise stores. He has engaged in numerous donation activities and has shown exceptional love for his hometown by donating 10 million KRW to the Yeongam-gun Citizen Scholarship Fund.
In particular, after donating 5 million KRW as a hometown love donation to Yeongam-gun on the 22nd, he moved people by re-donating thank-you gifts worth about 1.5 million KRW to vulnerable groups through the Geumjeong-myeon Community Security Council.
Chairman Kim Seong-jin said, “I participated in the donation with the thought that I could contribute even a little to the development of my hometown Yeongam,” adding, “I am even happier that the thank-you gifts can be used meaningfully. I always live thinking of my hometown, and I am grateful to be able to convey this feeling to the people of my hometown.”
Chairman Kim Gyu-ryong, from Taegan-ri, Sijong-myeon, Yeongam-gun, donated 5 million KRW as a hometown love donation to the county on the 21st and simultaneously donated 5 million KRW to the Citizen Scholarship Association with the intention of using it for fostering local talent.

Chairman Kim Gyu-ryong said, “When I heard about the implementation of the hometown love donation system this year, I could not help but think of my hometown Yeongam,” adding, “I plan to return the thank-you gifts received after the donation to the local community, and I support the start of the hometown love donation system and the development of Yeongam-gun.”
A county official said, “We deeply appreciate the continuous love for Yeongam through the hometown love donation contributions,” and added, “We will use the donations solidly for the development of Yeongam so that many people supporting Yeongam can feel the worth of their participation,” urging continuous interest for the successful establishment of the hometown love donation system.

The hometown love donation system allows donors to donate up to 5 million KRW annually to local governments nationwide except for the donor’s registered address. Donations can be made online or offline through the ‘Hometown Love e-um’ site or by visiting nationwide agricultural and livestock cooperatives.
