BNT Launches 'AI Firefighting Solution' Utilizing AI Video Analysis System
[Asia Economy Reporter Jang Hyowon] BNGT is expanding the application of its AI video analysis system to secure a leading position in the AI (artificial intelligence) disaster solution market.
BNGT announced on the 22nd that it plans to establish an AI firefighting solution capable of detecting fires at an early stage using its video analysis technology within the first half of this year.
According to the company, this solution can detect abnormal situations such as smoke or heat through intelligent CCTV footage when a fire occurs and notify control centers and local institutions' (fire stations, police stations, etc.) control rooms. Additionally, through collaboration with firefighting equipment companies, it aims to enable initial response and fire suppression.
A company representative explained, "Following our existing AI crowd response system, we are investing in AI firefighting solutions to advance our disaster solutions and secure the related market. Our solution will be applied to the equipment of partner companies."
BNGT is currently supplying control systems and solutions to numerous local governments. Last year, it became the first in Korea to supply an AI video analysis control system to a Seoul municipal district and is conducting a national project related to AI-based safety systems. The project is titled "Development of a Digital Twin Platform Technology for Disaster Situation Awareness Data Linkage Support for National SOC Safety Management."
The company representative said, "Recently, the government has introduced policies related to safety systems, showing a focus on disaster prediction and on-site response. In particular, AI-based safety systems are being expanded across various disaster fields, and we are proactively responding to this trend."
According to the company, the government plans to upgrade all local government CCTVs to intelligent systems integrated with AI through the comprehensive national safety system reform plan announced last month. Currently, out of 530,000 local government CCTVs, only 130,000 units (24%) are intelligent. The government also plans to amend related laws to utilize CCTV footage for disaster prevention purposes. Recently, the Korea Forest Service announced a "Comprehensive National Wildfire Prevention Plan," which includes expanding the installation of ICT platforms such as AI CCTV for automatic wildfire monitoring.
A company representative stated, "The AI disaster solution we are advancing can detect not only crowd responses but also special disasters such as fires and earthquakes, and notify relevant local governments, fire stations, and police stations of the situation. We expect this to contribute to rapid responses in disaster situations."
They added, "Besides special disasters, it can also be used in various fields such as tunnel and large logistics warehouse fires and wildfire monitoring." BNGT plans to add firefighting construction business and firefighting equipment manufacturing business to its business objectives through this week's shareholders' meeting.
