Not Luxury but Zara at Around 30,000 Won... British Crown Princess's Frugal Fashion Sparks Attention
3 Years Old Dress Upcycling
Crown Princess Earrings Approximately 36,000 Won
Catherine, the Princess of Wales, has attracted attention by attending the British Academy Film Awards in a modest outfit. Catherine is the wife of Prince William, the first in line to the British throne.
On the 21st (local time), US media CNN reported that Catherine appeared with her husband, Prince William, at the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) ceremony held at the Southbank Centre Royal Festival Hall in London the previous day. This was the couple's first attendance at the event in three years since the COVID-19 pandemic.
According to the media, Catherine wore an upcycled dress from the luxury brand Alexander McQueen, which she had worn at the 2019 ceremony. Upcycling refers to the act of redesigning discarded or unused clothes to increase their value.
Compared to photos from three years ago, the body of the dress remains the same shape, but the decoration on the left shoulder has been changed. The floral decoration was replaced with a long draped design.
In particular, CNN focused on the earrings worn by Catherine. The media stated, "The Princess of Wales's earrings, decorated with flower and jewel shapes, are products sold by the Spanish fast fashion brand Zara for $27.9 (about 36,000 KRW)." It is reported that these earrings are currently sold out.
