[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] The first on-site visit for the preliminary feasibility study of the Jeonnam National University Hospital (Hospital Director Ahn Young-geun) new hospital construction project, the ‘Future-type New Smart Hospital Construction Project,’ was conducted.
According to Jeonnam National University Hospital on the 21st, the Korea Development Institute (KDI) held a briefing and Q&A session regarding the new hospital project the day before, followed by an on-site inspection around the hospital area.
The visiting feasibility study team consisted of five members including KDI Senior Specialist Jo Sook-jin, Researcher Sa Ji-won, Hallym University Professor Cho Chang-ik, Kyung Hee University Professor Choi Yong-seok, along with Jeonnam National University Hospital officials such as Hospital Director Ahn Young-geun and New Hospital Construction Promotion Headquarters Chief Kim Yoon-hyun. Also attending were Gwangju City Deputy Mayor Moon Young-hoon, Dong-gu District Office Chief Lim Taek, and Jeonnam National University Vice President Kim Eun-il.
The team listened to the ‘Future-type New Smart Hospital Construction Project’ plan from Yoon Kyung-chul, Director of Planning and Coordination at Jeonnam National University Hospital. They also held a Q&A session with representatives from Jeonnam National University Hospital, Gwangju City, and Dong-gu District Office.
Afterwards, the team inspected the interior and exterior facilities of the hospital, including Buildings 1 and 2, which are over 40 years old, and toured the hospital area.
Hospital Director Ahn Young-geun said, “We have prepared thoroughly for several years to build the new hospital, so we were able to explain many aspects during this first on-site visit. Beyond simply constructing a new building, we aim to reduce the medical gap with the Seoul metropolitan area, improve the overcrowded treatment and surgery systems, and provide groundbreaking medical services. We are determined to successfully complete the new hospital construction.”
Meanwhile, the Jeonnam National University Hospital ‘Future-type New Smart Hospital Construction Project’ was selected as a preliminary feasibility study target project by the Ministry of Strategy and Finance on December 27 last year.
