"Biden's Surprise Visit to Ukraine, Arrives in Poland"
[Asia Economy New York=Special Correspondent Joselgina] U.S. President Joe Biden, who made a surprise visit to Kyiv, the capital of Ukraine, arrived in Poland on the 20th (local time), according to Poland's PAP news agency.
According to reports and the White House, President Biden is scheduled to hold talks with Polish President Andrzej Duda in Poland to discuss ways to support Ukraine and joint efforts to strengthen the deterrence of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO).
On the night of the 21st, he will also deliver a speech in Warsaw. Earlier, the White House stated, "President Biden will mention how the United States has rallied the world to support the freedom and democracy of the Ukrainian people," and "he will make it clear that the U.S. will stand with Ukraine for as long as necessary." President Biden also gave a speech in Warsaw in March last year, shortly after the outbreak of the war.
Following that, on the 22nd, President Biden will meet with the so-called Bucharest Nine leaders to reaffirm the United States' unwavering support for the alliance's security and unity. The Bucharest Nine consists of Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, Estonia, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Romania, and Slovakia, a group of NATO's eastern frontline countries.

On the same day, ahead of the one-year anniversary of Russia's invasion of Ukraine, President Biden visited Kyiv without prior notice to meet with President Volodymyr Zelensky and promised additional military support. This is the first time a U.S. president has set foot on Ukrainian soil since Russia's invasion on February 24 last year. After the meeting, he visited the U.S. Embassy and departed Kyiv for Poland after 1 p.m.
