Gimhae Jangyu Incineration Plant Expansion Project, Injunction Request for Suspension 'Dismissed'
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Seryeong] The provisional injunction request for suspension of execution filed by residents opposing the modernization project of the resource circulation facility in Gimhae-si, Gyeongnam, was dismissed by the court.
On the 16th, the city stated, "It is a correct decision judging that the requirements for suspension of execution in administrative litigation were not met."
Earlier, on the 25th of last month, the Joint Emergency Countermeasure Committee of Residents Opposing the Expansion and Urging the Relocation of Jangyu Incineration Plant filed a main lawsuit to cancel the approval disposition of the waste treatment facility installation plan (change) at Changwon District Court and submitted a provisional injunction request to suspend the effect of the change approval.

View original imageOn January 18th, the city announced the implementation of the resource circulation facility modernization project to resolve the aging of the facility and insufficient processing capacity at 35 Bugok-ro by newly installing one incineration facility at the current location and performing major repairs on the existing one.
The plan aims to secure a processing capacity of 300 tons per day by 2025 and to install a complex sports center as a resident convenience facility.

A city official said, "The project is a lawful act carried out through legitimate procedures without any illegal matters, so the project promotion will proceed smoothly," and added, "We will do our best to respond so that we can win the main lawsuit as well."
