Prosecutors Appeal First Trial Verdict of Asan Hospital Intern Accused of Sexual Assault on Anesthetized Patient

According to the Seoul Eastern District Prosecutors' Office on the 16th, the prosecution submitted an appeal to the court regarding the first trial verdict of former intern doctor Lee Mo, who was indicted on charges of quasi-forcible molestation the day before. Earlier, Lee also filed an appeal against the first trial verdict on the 13th.

Mr. A is accused of sexually assaulting a female patient under anesthesia before surgery while interning in the obstetrics and gynecology department at Asan Hospital in 2019. The court sentenced Lee to 1 year and 6 months in prison at the first trial held on the 9th, ordered him to complete 40 hours of a sexual violence treatment program, and imposed a 5-year employment restriction in institutions related to children, adolescents, and persons with disabilities.
