Starting Step 1 for Elementary and Adult Literacy Education
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Song Jong-gu] Goseong-gun, Gyeongnam Province, will directly operate an adult literacy education program that recognizes elementary school academic achievement, based on the Goseong Academy for Adult Literacy, which has been running for 10 years.
The adult literacy education program recognizing elementary school academic achievement is designed for adults aged 18 and over who missed the opportunity for formal education and have no academic background. By completing a certain curriculum, they can obtain elementary school academic certification. The program consists of a total of three stages over three years.
Goseong County, Gyeongnam, will directly operate an adult literacy education program that recognizes elementary school academic credits, based on the adult literacy Goseong Academy that has been running for 10 years.
View original imageThe county plans to designate itself as a lifelong learning city by directly operating the Goseong Academy for Adult Literacy, which had been held at Georyu Elementary School until now, starting this year.
This year, classes corresponding to the first stage of elementary school, equivalent to grades 1-2 level, including Korean, mathematics, and creative experiential activities, will be held. From March to December, classes will be conducted free of charge for a total of 40 weeks, two hours each on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday afternoons at the Goseong-gun Youth Center ‘On’.
Any adult without elementary school academic certification residing in Goseong-gun can apply by visiting the Goseong-gun Office of Education and Youth Affairs between the 15th and 28th.
County Governor Lee Sang-geun said, “The visiting adult literacy education ‘Goseong Academy’ is entering its 10th year this year,” and added, “Since Goseong-gun will directly operate an education program that not only provides literacy education but also recognizes elementary school academic achievement, we hope many people participate to fulfill the dreams of adult learners.”
