Unlocked Vehicle Robbed of 3.33 Million Won... Habitual Thief Arrested
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Seryeong] A habitual car thief who repeatedly committed thefts in Gyeongnam, Gyeongbuk, and Gangwon was caught.
According to the Gyeongnam Police Agency on the 14th, the arrested man in his 30s, Mr. A, stole cash from an unlocked car in an apartment parking lot in Jinju City at around 12:45 a.m. on November 28 last year.
Not only in Gyeongnam, but from October to December of that year, he traveled nationwide and took valuables worth approximately 3.33 million won from eight vehicles over three months.
Investigation revealed that before committing the crimes, Mr. A searched online for affluent apartments nationwide to select targets, then traveled using public transportation such as trains and taxis.
Usually, if a car door is unlocked, the side mirrors do not fold in, so Mr. A mainly targeted cars whose side mirrors were unfolded.
Most of the stolen valuables were used for living expenses or entertainment costs.
