Wando-gun Launches Senior Job Project with 9.7 Billion Won Investment
Increase in Budget and Participants, a Total of 34 Projects Underway
[Wando=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Kyung-pil] Wando-gun, Jeollanam-do is investing 9.7 billion KRW to promote senior job creation and social activity support projects to secure income preservation and a happy old age for the elderly.
According to the county on the 13th, this year's project budget increased by 2.4 billion KRW compared to last year, and the number of participants in the project rose by 326 to a total of 2,535 people.
The types of projects include public interest activity type, such as volunteer activities like beautifying villages (2,068 people), social service type providing services in areas requiring social assistance (312 people), market type generating profits through operating small stores (105 people), and employment placement type connecting jobs to seniors with work capabilities (50 people).
The county prioritizes the safety of the elderly in carrying out the projects and plans to discover sustainable quality jobs suited to local characteristics, such as fishing gear maintenance projects.
Additionally, the county intends to continuously inspect the job projects and conduct satisfaction surveys targeting participants and demand organizations to reflect the results in project planning, thereby focusing on substantial and systematic project implementation.
County Governor Shin Woo-cheol said, “We will do our best to continuously discover quality jobs suited to local conditions so that the elderly can lead stable and vibrant lives in their old age.”
