Announcement of the 2023 Busan City Local Government Employee Recruitment Examination Plan
Selection of 1,012 Civil Servants in 24 Job Series Including Administrative Positions
1st Written Exam on June 10, 2nd on October 28
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Dongguk Lee] Busan City has finalized the ‘2023 Busan Metropolitan City Local Government Employee Recruitment Plan’ and will select a total of 1,012 candidates across 24 job categories in two rounds, including 421 administrative officers at grade 9 and 111 social welfare officers at grade 9.
The total number of planned recruits was finalized by comprehensively considering administrative demand and expected vacancies within public service (retirement, leave, staffing adjustments).
By rank, the recruitment includes ▲medical officers grade 5: 15 ▲administrative officers grade 7: 7 ▲nursing officers grade 8: 21 ▲administrative officers grade 9: 410 ▲social welfare officers grade 9: 111 ▲industrial officers grade 9: 99 ▲health officers grade 9: 23 ▲facilities officers grade 9: 175 ▲research and guidance officers: 8, among others.
This year, Busan City will expand the legal mandatory employment rates for socially disadvantaged groups (at least 5% for persons with disabilities, at least 2% for low-income groups) by recruiting 7% persons with disabilities and 2.2% low-income candidates, totaling 91 individuals (71 persons with disabilities and 20 low-income candidates) through separate recruitment.
To secure excellent personnel and ensure fairness in the examination in response to the rapidly changing administrative environment, the principle is to conduct open competitive exams. However, separate recruitment for research and guidance positions to strengthen expertise by field, some technical positions, and technical high school graduates (specialized high schools and Meister high schools) will be conducted through career competitive exams.
The ‘1st Recruitment Written Examination’ will be held on June 10, selecting 960 candidates across 18 job categories including administrative officers grade 9 and social welfare officers grade 9. Subsequently, the ‘2nd Recruitment Written Examination’ on October 28 will select 37 candidates across 9 job categories including administrative officers grade 7 and research positions. The 15 medical officers will be recruited separately.
Applications will be accepted via the Local Government Internet Application Center website from March 13 to March 17 for the 1st exam and from July 17 to July 21 for the 2nd exam. Application fees are waived for low-income and near-poverty applicants.
Successful candidates without disqualifications for public service appointment will work at Busan City, Busan City Council, or district/county offices and their councils (including eup, myeon, and dong).
