Entrusting Fish to a Cat? Supermarket Employee Embezzling Goods
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Seryeong] Employees at a mart in Gyeongnam who pretended to scan barcodes but took items without paying were caught by the police.
According to Changwon Jungbu Police Station on the 9th, they stole mart goods worth about 2.3 million won over the course of about a month starting from August last year.
The group would pretend to scan barcodes when a colleague purchased multiple items, but some items were not paid for or were hidden under clothing.
They mainly took food products and manufactured goods without security tags, and police investigations revealed that they colluded and overlooked the crime by using their personal relationships.
The crime was uncovered when a security company employee, suspicious after reviewing the mart's CCTV footage, reported the matter to the mart management.
