Air Busan Resumes Busan-Gaoxiong Route... Increases Flights to Taipei and Nha Trang
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Hwang Du-yeol] Air Busan's Taiwan Kaohsiung route is resuming operations, and some routes including Taipei will also be increased.
Air Busan announced on the 9th that it will resume the Busan-Kaohsiung route four times a week on Wednesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays, and Sundays starting March 29.
The resumption of the Busan-Kaohsiung route comes more than three years after operations were suspended in March 2020 due to COVID-19, making Air Busan the only domestic airline operating direct flights to Kaohsiung.
The Busan-Kaohsiung flight departs from Gimhae International Airport at 10:40 AM (10:30 AM on Thursdays) and arrives at Kaohsiung International Airport at 12:40 PM.
The return flight departs from the local airport at 1:35 PM and arrives at Gimhae International Airport at 5:05 PM. The flight time is approximately three hours.
Kaohsiung is a port city located in southwestern Taiwan, the second largest city in Taiwan, and also a sister city of Busan.
Additionally, Air Busan will increase the Busan-Taipei route, currently operating one round trip daily, to two round trips daily starting March 26, and expand the Busan-Nha Trang route from four times a week to one round trip daily.
The Taipei route, which resumed operations on December 21 last year, regained its previous popularity with 16,000 passengers in just over a month, while the Nha Trang route has recorded an average occupancy rate of over 90% during the winter season.
An Air Busan official stated, “To enhance passenger convenience, we decided to resume the Kaohsiung route and increase flights on the Taipei and Nha Trang routes in line with the March summer flight schedule. Especially, the Kaohsiung route is expected to attract many foreign tourists and greatly contribute to regional tourism revitalization.”
