Dongshin University to Host 'NEXT Gwangju Energy Imagination Forum' from 22nd to 24th
Opening the Era of Local Development through Local Government-University Cooperation
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Yoon Jamin] Dongshin University’s Local Government-University Cooperation-Based Regional Innovation Project Group announced on the 8th that it will hold the ‘NEXT Gwangju Energy Imagination Forum’ from the 22nd to the 24th.
Under the theme “Opening the Era of Local Development through Local Government-University Cooperation,” the forum will be held at the Gwangju Kim Dae-jung Convention Center, the Gwangjucheon area, and Dongshin University Energy Cluster in Naju Bitgaram Innovation City.
University students participating in the Gwangju-Jeonnam Regional Innovation Platform will collaborate for three days to successfully establish the Gwangjucheon Ecological Healing Belt.
The Gwangjucheon Ecological Healing Belt is one of five key projects promoted by Gwangju City, alongside the Yeongsan-Hwangryong River Exciting Belt, Gwangju Songjeong Station Vitality Belt, Gwangju Station Startup Belt, and Hyochon Station Digital Content Belt.
On the first day of the forum, the Regional Development Energy Imagination Forum will diagnose and discuss energy new industry policy directions, the current status of the region, and youth issues in the area.
On the second day, participants will conduct a field survey of the Gwangjucheon area, the core region of the Ecological Healing Belt project, and on the final day, an ideathon camp and competition will be held where various ideas necessary for establishing the Gwangjucheon Ecological Healing Belt will be conceived and presented.
Lee Dong-hwi, head of Dongshin University’s Local Government-University Cooperation-Based Regional Innovation Project Department (Professor of Information Security), said, “We will continuously provide opportunities for local youth to empathize with regional issues and directly participate in regional development, contributing to youth settlement in the area,” adding, “We expect this to become a representative regional innovation model of local government-university cooperation.”

Meanwhile, the Gwangju-Jeonnam Regional Innovation Platform is focusing on nurturing talent and developing technology in the energy new industry and future transportation fields, as well as promoting regional startups and cultural expansion to support youth settlement in the Gwangju and Jeonnam areas.
