Expanding Platform Competitiveness with In-House Magazine Production Including Short-Form Content
CJ Olive Young announced on the 6th that it will create its own magazine within its mobile application (app) and evolve into a content platform.
Olive Young is focusing on content and expanding channel competitiveness starting this year to enhance communication with customers on its online mall. As the so-called 'snack culture,' where mainly the MZ generation (Millennials + Generation Z) enjoys light content on mobile devices in a short time, spreads, Olive Young has launched its own magazine as the first attempt this year to strengthen content. The new magazine section in the mobile app allows users to view various themed content gathered together like a magazine.
In the magazine section, users can find content on health, beauty, lifestyle trends, as well as topics of interest to Olive Young’s core customers, the MZ generation. The content is presented in editorial form with concise text and images for light daily reading, and in short-form videos lasting about one minute. Popular videos from Olive Young’s YouTube channel, 'Ollyoung TV,' can also be watched in the magazine section.
Olive Young plans to increase touchpoints between partners and customers through its own magazine. It is expected to become a platform where small and medium-sized brands, which find it difficult to promote themselves independently, can effectively showcase their products and brands.
The company intends to expand communication by providing not only convenient shopping services but also interesting and useful entertainment to many customers visiting the mobile app. As of December last year, the monthly active users (MAU) of the Olive Young mobile app exceeded 4 million.
An Olive Young representative said, "Our goal is for customers to visit the mobile app anytime to enjoy it even if they have nothing to buy," adding, "We will expand platform competitiveness by offering diverse content on all topics of interest to the MZ generation, as well as beauty, health, and lifestyle trends."

Meanwhile, as part of content enhancement, Olive Young has also introduced a 'Live Section' in the mobile app since December last year. In the Live Section, users can check the schedule, previews, and replays of past broadcasts of Olive Young’s own live commerce, 'Ollyoung Live.'
