KOSPI Slightly Rises on Both Individual and Foreign Investor Buying
[Asia Economy Reporter Kwon Jaehee] The KOSPI is showing a slight upward trend due to buying pressure from individuals and foreigners.
As of 9:31 a.m. on the 1st, the KOSPI index is trading at 2435.64, up 0.44% (10.56 points) compared to the previous trading day. The KOSPI opened the session at 2446.03, up 0.86% (20.95 points) on the day.
The rise in the index was driven by buying from individuals and foreigners. Individuals are net buying stocks worth 118.2 billion KRW, and foreigners are net buying stocks worth 70 billion KRW. On the other hand, institutions sold stocks worth 189.2 billion KRW.
Among the top 10 KOSPI stocks by market capitalization, all stocks except Samsung Biologics (-0.13%) and LG Chem (-1.45%) are on the rise. These include Samsung Electronics (1.80%), LG Energy Solution (0.58%), SK Hynix (2.37%), Samsung SDI (2.63%), Samsung Electronics Preferred (1.45%), Hyundai Motor (1.92%), NAVER (1.48%), and Kia (2.54%).
At the same time, the KOSDAQ index is trading at 745.23, up 0.64% (4.74 points) compared to the previous trading day. The index opened at 744.90, up 0.60% (4.41 points) from the previous day.
By sector, non-metallic minerals (1.58%), electrical and electronics (1.51%), transportation equipment (1.29%), securities (1.11%), insurance (1.00%), manufacturing (0.90%), and steel and metals (0.80%) recorded gains in that order.
By investor type, individuals and institutions are net buyers of 34.6 billion KRW and 1.9 billion KRW respectively, while foreigners are net sellers of 28.6 billion KRW.
Among the top 10 stocks by market capitalization, all stocks except Pearl Abyss (-0.55%) and JYP Ent. (-0.28%) are on the rise. These include EcoPro BM (2.10%), Celltrion Healthcare (1.05%), L&F (1.46%), Kakao Games (2.16%), HLB (2.96%), EcoPro (1.71%), Osstem Implant (0.16%), and Rino Industries (1.11%).

By sector, semiconductors (1.59%), general electrical and electronics (1.45%), software (1.28%), IT hardware (1.27%), other manufacturing (1.14%), non-metallic minerals (1.12%), and finance (1.07%) showed gains.
