‘United by Reading in Pohang’, This Year’s ‘One Book One Pohang’ Candidate Book Recommendations
Recruitment of Candidates in Three Categories: Children, Adolescents, and General
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Dongguk Lee] Pohang City will receive nominations for candidate books from January 30 to February 19 for three weeks through the Pohang City Library website and the One Book recommendation corners of eight municipal libraries to select the ‘Pohang City Book of the Year.’
Now in its 18th year, ‘One Book One Pohang’ is a citywide reading promotion campaign that selects one book each in three categories (children, youth, general) through citizen recommendations, aiming to create a united Pohang through the selected books. Pohang City plans to hold various reading culture events based on the selected Book of the Year.
The ‘2023 One Book Recommended Books’ must be books published within the last two years, suitable for hosting reading culture program events, and easy for anyone to read without burden.
The Book of the Year selected through citizen recommendations will be celebrated starting with a proclamation ceremony in April, followed by events such as reading relays, contests, One Book Quiz King, and meetings with One Book authors, contributing to the promotion of reading among Pohang citizens and revitalization of local culture. It is expected to lead the creation of a reading society atmosphere through communication and harmony via books.
