Seongnam City Provides 100,000 KRW to Vulnerable Groups and 400,000 KRW to Welfare Facilities Amid Soaring Heating Costs
[Asia Economy (Seongnam) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] Seongnam City in Gyeonggi Province will provide a total of 3.0442 billion KRW in high inflation livelihood stabilization funds to low-income vulnerable groups and small-scale social welfare residential facilities struggling with soaring heating costs.
The vulnerable groups eligible for support include 30,314 households such as basic livelihood security recipients, near-poverty households, and single-parent families. Seongnam City will provide 100,000 KRW per household as high inflation livelihood stabilization funds.
The city will allocate 3.0314 billion KRW in contingency funds based on the "Ordinance on Residents' Livelihood Stability Support and Welfare Promotion" to this end.
For 32 small-scale social welfare residential facilities with fewer than 30 users, 12.8 million KRW from the Community Chest of Korea designated donations will be invested to provide 400,000 KRW per facility.
The supported facilities include group homes for people with disabilities, shelters for female victims of violence, and child group homes.
The funds will be paid into the accounts of the eligible facilities next month without a separate application process.
This support is implemented separately from the government's expanded energy voucher support and Gyeonggi Province's emergency support measures for heating-vulnerable groups, so recipients can receive overlapping benefits.
Earlier, on the 18th, the city supported 1,608 single-person basic livelihood security recipient households with 200,000 KRW per household using 321.6 million KRW in donations sponsored by 10 local companies and institutions, including Samyoung Electronics and Dongbu Saemaeul Geumgo.
