‘Jeonbuk Tourism Enterprise Support Center’ Opens in Jeonju... 8th in South Korea
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Heeyoon] The Jeonbuk Tourism Enterprise Support Center, a hub for supporting and nurturing tourism enterprises in the Jeonbuk region, has opened.
On the 30th, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism announced that the Korea Tourism Organization, together with Jeollabuk-do, opened the Jeonbuk Tourism Enterprise Support Center starting from this day.
The Tourism Enterprise Support Center is a project promoted through collaboration between the organization and metropolitan local governments to establish a base for nurturing regional tourism enterprises and supporting jobs. It has achieved results such as discovering and supporting region-based tourism enterprises, providing office space, supporting commercialization funds, and creating tourism jobs.
The center began with the opening of the Busan Center in September 2019, and currently operates centers in Incheon, Daejeon·Sejong, Gyeongnam, Gwangju, Gyeongbuk, and Ulsan. The Jeonbuk Center, opened on this day, is the eighth.
The opening ceremony of the Jeonbuk Tourism Enterprise Support Center was held in the afternoon at the first floor of the Jeollabuk-do Culture and Tourism Foundation in Wansan-gu, near Jeonju Hanok Village. About 70 people attended the event, including Lee Jaehwan, Vice President of the Korea Tourism Organization, Kim Gwan-young, Governor of Jeollabuk-do, Lee Kyung-yoon, CEO of the Jeollabuk-do Culture and Tourism Foundation, representatives from related organizations, and tourism enterprise leaders.
At the event, Lee Jaehwan, Vice President of the Korea Tourism Organization, said, “To take the tourism industry of Jeonbuk, which has excellent tourism resources, to the next level, the role of more startups is necessary. Taking the opening of the Jeonbuk Center as an opportunity, we will actively discover and nurture tourism enterprises that turn Jeonbuk’s tourism resources such as Jeonju Hanok Village, Iksan, Gochang, Jeongeup World Cultural Heritage sites into attractive content.”

Going forward, the Korea Tourism Organization plans to actively promote regional tourism enterprise support projects through the eight regional Tourism Enterprise Support Centers in collaboration with metropolitan local governments.
