Haenam-gun Eliminates Blind Spots for Vulnerable Children
Focused Identification and Systematic Support for Children at Risk of Food Insecurity
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Seo Young-seo] Haenam-gun, Jeollanam-do, has been conducting a comprehensive survey of vulnerable children in care blind spots to focus on identifying children at risk of food insecurity from the 25th of last month until March 15.
According to the county on the 27th, there are about 260 children under 18 years old, both in school and out of school, from recipients of government aid, near-poverty groups, and single-parent families. Through this comprehensive survey, children who are economically disadvantaged but do not meet the selection criteria and thus fall into support blind spots will also be thoroughly investigated.
The Child Meal Support Project targets children under 18 years old, both in school and out of school, who are at risk of food insecurity. It provides support by delivering lunch boxes or supplementary food worth about 8,000 KRW per meal once a day.
Applications for child meal support can be made not only by the applicants themselves but also by family members, neighbors, social workers, and others around them. Applications can be submitted year-round by visiting the town office in person, via email, or online.
Additionally, last year, a meal satisfaction monitoring was conducted for the recipients of child meal support, and measures will be taken to ensure that the opinions of the child meal support recipients are reflected.
