[Asia Economy Reporter Moon Chaeseok] LS Electric announced on the 27th that it has been selected as the contractor for a 49 billion KRW railway signaling system project ordered by the Taiwan Ministry of Transportation and Communications Railway Bureau.
The project is being carried out according to the plan to regionalize and underground the railway in the Taoyuan area, which has Taiwan's largest international airport. A temporary track of 24 km will be constructed in the 'Fuxin~Yinger Station' section.

The company explained that since starting the Taiwan railway business in 2013 as the first domestic company, its cumulative order amount has exceeded 400 billion KRW.
Last October, it won a 270 billion KRW urban railway power system project in Taiwan. By securing the Taoyuan metropolitan railway signaling system project this time, it is gaining leadership in the local market.

An LS Electric official said, "The Taiwan authorities aim to improve existing railway infrastructure and establish new urban railways," adding, "Through a thorough localization strategy, we will make it a base market in Southeast Asia."
