Magnitude 5.6 Earthquake Occurs in Sichuan Province, China
[Asia Economy Beijing=Special Correspondent Kim Hyun-jung] At around 3:49 a.m. on the 26th, a magnitude 5.6 earthquake occurred in Luding County, Ganzi Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Sichuan Province, China, according to the China Earthquake Network Center. The focal depth was 11,000 meters.
According to local media such as China Central (CC) TV, the earthquake was also felt in Chengdu, 223 km away from the epicenter. Rescue teams from various regions rushed to the epicenter and began disaster investigation operations. So far, no casualties have been reported.

On November 16th last year, a magnitude 4.3 earthquake occurred in Taiping Town, Huili City, Liangshan Prefecture, Sichuan Province, 350 km away from Luding County, but no casualties were reported.
