Homepage Release at 10 AM on the 27th
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] The Gwangju Metropolitan Office of Education announced on the 25th that the results of the 2023 academic year middle school admission assignment will be announced at 10 a.m. on the 27th.
The Gwangju East and West Education Support Offices will conduct a lottery for 14,333 middle school admission candidates for the 2023 academic year (4,370 in the East, 9,963 in the West) at 3 p.m. on the 26th in the large conference room of the West Education Support Office.
The assignment will be conducted through a ‘NAIS-based online system’ using a random computer lottery method by school district.
The lottery will be conducted fairly and transparently with the participation of 24 lottery management committee members from the East and West Education Support Offices, including parent representatives, and observers.
The assignment results will be disclosed at 10 a.m. on the 27th through the websites of the Gwangju Metropolitan Office of Education and the East and West Education Support Offices. The assignment notification letters will be distributed to students at their current elementary schools on the same day.
A representative from the West Education Support Office stated, “The number of new students assigned within Gwangju this year increased by 666 compared to the 2022 academic year. Middle school assignments are based on the school district of the elementary school from which the student graduated, not the address, and are assigned through a random computer lottery considering the capacity of nearby middle schools, commuting distance, and bus routes.”
Meanwhile, reassignment will be conducted on the 6th and 7th of next month for prospective students who have moved their residence with their entire family to a different city or district education office after the middle school assignment.
