"Cyber Intrusions Must Be Addressed Thoroughly"
Jeon Byeong-geuk, the 1st Vice Minister of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, visited the Culture, Sports and Tourism Cybersecurity Center on the 25th to inspect the response to a large-scale network hacking incident. A Chinese hacker group had previously announced hacking attacks on South Korean government ministries and public institutions during the Lunar New Year holiday period. The Cybersecurity Center is an organization that protects the information technology resources of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and its affiliated public institutions, and operates and manages security systems. To respond to cyber intrusion incidents and similar situations, the center maintained an emergency duty system even during the holiday. After encouraging the staff, Vice Minister Jeon urged, "Please thoroughly respond to cyber intrusions by disseminating security recommendations to each institution."
