Death Threat Call Targeting LA Shooting Victims... "I Want to End It"
[Asia Economy Reporter Seomideum] According to the American online media Insider on the 23rd (local time), a threatening phone call was made to the hospital where the victims of the Monterey Park mass shooting in Los Angeles (LA) County, USA, were admitted, threatening to massacre them.
According to the report, at a press conference the previous day, LA County Sheriff Robert Luna stated that an unidentified person called the hospital where the shooting victims were admitted and made threats. The hospital where the victims were admitted was not disclosed for security reasons.

He explained, "Someone called one of the hospitals where the injured are admitted and said, 'I want to go there and finish the job,'" adding, "(That call) was really terrible."
It has not yet been revealed whether the caller of the threatening phone call was the initial shooter, someone associated with the shooter, or an unrelated third party.
At around 10:20 p.m. on the 21st, the day before Lunar New Year’s Eve, a mass shooting occurred at a dance studio in Monterey Park, resulting in twenty casualties. Ten people died, and ten were injured. One of them is reported to be in critical condition.
The police identified Asian male Huu Can Tran (72) as the suspect. He fled driving a white van and was later found dead by suicide with a handgun in a parking lot near a shopping mall about 35 km away.

Initially, the incident was suspected to be a hate crime related to racial discrimination. However, since the suspect was confirmed to be Asian as well, the motive remains unclear. Nevertheless, the murder threat call received after the crime is highly suspected to be related to anti-Asian hate.
