Gyeongnam Goseong-gun Hometown Love Donation System Greatly Helps Economic Revitalization
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Song Jong-gu] The Hometown Love Donation System in Goseong-gun, Gyeongnam Province, is proving to be a great help in revitalizing the local economy.
As of the 18th, Goseong-gun has surpassed a cumulative donation amount of 15.9 million won, continuing its smooth progress.
The Hometown Love Donation System is a policy where donors who contribute to their hometown or any desired local government receive tax credit benefits and return gifts, while the local government uses the collected hometown love donations to promote projects aimed at improving the welfare of local residents and revitalizing the local economy.
Since the first donor appeared on January 1, when the donation system was implemented, 59 people nationwide have participated in donations, and the total donation amount has exceeded 15.9 million won.
In particular, the donation procession has steadily continued not only among those whose hometown is Goseong but also among people who have no ties to Goseong.
Also, 70% of donors contributed 100,000 won, and the most selected return gifts were priced around 30,000 won, which is analyzed to be because the Hometown Love Donation System provides a full tax credit benefit up to 100,000 won of the donation amount.
A county official stated, “The steady continuation of donations by people without ties seems to be greatly helped by the diverse and high-quality return gifts, which number 20 types.”
In December last year, the county held a Hometown Love Donation Return Gift Selection Committee and selected 20 items including ▲rice noodles ▲rice gift sets ▲red pepper powder ▲Baekseonsaeng sweet potatoes ▲Korean pork set ▲stewed cheonggukjang ▲ssam and salad ▲turmeric powder ▲gardenia scarf ▲cherry tomatoes ▲chamdaerae chili paste ▲paprika ▲Sogaya gift set ▲chammasi dashipack set ▲honey ▲yugwa gift set ▲flatfish gift set ▲chamdaerae ▲Goseong Love gift certificates.
Kim Jong-chun, head of the Population and Youth Promotion Team, said, “We are grateful to all donors who have sent warm hearts to Goseong through the Hometown Love Donation System. We will do our best to ensure that the Hometown Love Donation System is stably established.”
